Budo belts
for judo, karate and other martial arts. Obi is a belt of martial arts practitioners, belongs to the traditional uniform and is part of the kimono. The belt appears in the 14th - 15th century as a practical addition to samurai. The symbolism of handing over the belt ceased to exist about 200 years ago in favor of an indication of advanced technology and merit representing only the external side of the practice that the student demonstrates during the test.
Its main use is to hold a kimono jacket, usually wrap twice around the fuselage and tie the ends to a special knot of triangular shape. Originally, Obi had only three colors - white, brown and black. The meaning of the black belt was that its owner had to work hard for years to achieve the desired black color.
